Title: صلاح الدين الايوبي
Author: Abdullah Nasih Ulwan
Publication: Dar Al-Salam
Okay..without a d0ubt, صلاح الدين الايوبي is a great m0del for us, yet personally I hate reading this book because it causes me to feel how far behind we are in achieving the ideals needed to become the people who are worthy enough to gain Allah's help and liberate Palestine. However, this book does lighten my heart when it explains that the ummah had been in the state we are in now, many times in the past, yet we managed to rise up again and rise up spectacularly when we follow the path of Islam. Enough said, let's work!

2. Palace Walk
Title: Palace Walk
Author: Naquib Mahfouz
Publication: The American University in Cairo Press
I bought this book in Egypt as Naquib Mahfouz is supposedly one of the best novelists of our time. Well, he did won the Nobel Prize. Does that count for anything? huahua. Anyway, I kinda like this book because the setting is very vivid, during Egypt's struggle from occupation by British. The story is nice too, about a family with different characters. kinda predictable but amusing and unsettling at the same time. However, if you're hoping to find some Islamic values, then this book doesn't offer any, there are even some unexpected scenes. This is part of The Cairo Trilogy though, anyone got the second or third book?

1. 37 Kisah Kehidupan Tabi'in
Title: 37 Kisah Kehidupan Tabi'in
Author: Dr Abdul Rahman Ra'fat Al-Basha
Publication: Pustaka Salam
I love reading this book after I wake up in the morning, each story every new dawn. The spirits of the tabi'in is amazing, their zeal, courage and piety. The stories of Umar Abd Aziz and his son is so refreshing. It is told that the night after everyone pledged allegiance to Umar, he was extremely exhausted and was just putting his head down to sleep when Abdul Malik, his son reminded him to return the wealth that had been taken wrongly from the people due to the previous caliphs. Umar r.a lamented that he was tired and would do it first thing in the morning. His son then asked: Could u be sure that u would be alive the next morning? That aroused Umar and he went off to do the deed the very night. Ya Allah, let me be as cool as them!
